FAQ
CHEMICAL PEELS
A medical-grade chemical peel, however, exposes the ingredients we use at home to be
quite weak in comparison to what happens when they’re applied professionally.
“Chemical peels refer to a type of topical resurfacing in which a chemical exfoliant is
applied to the skin to induce controlled skin injury at a certain depth, leading to
subsequent skin regrowth
There are three categories of professional chemical peels: These terms describe how
deeply the peels penetrate into the skin. Superficial peels penetrate only the epidermis
(a.k.a. the outermost layer of skin); medium-depth peels affect the entire epidermis and
a portion of the papillary dermis (upper to mid-dermis); and deep peels aim to penetrate
to the level of the mid-reticular dermis (deeper part of the dermis).
1. Superficial chemical peels
2. Medium chemical peels
3. Deep chemical peels
Superficial glycolic peels may have a concentration of anywhere from 20 to 50 percent.
Lactic acid peels fall in the 20 to 30 percent range. TCA can be used to produce deeper
results, but, at superficial strength, it’ll be found at 10 to 20 percent.
Superficial chemical peels are generally considered safe and effective for most skin
types. Medium and deep peels require a bit more caution. If you’re dealing with
photodamage, actinic keratoses (i.e. rough patches that can be considered
precancerous), sun spots, fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration, maybe a good
candidate for a medium-deep peel. Medium strength peels can also be good for patients
looking to smooth acne scars. Those with darker skin tones must be more cautious, as
deeper peels pose risks for post-inflammatory pigmentation.
After a superficial chemical peel, you can expect to see about a week of flaking, but it
shouldn’t impact your daily routine too much. When it comes to more potent peels,
expect up to a week of downtime after a medium chemical peel and up to two weeks
after certain deeper peels. You’ll likely experience physical skin peeling for five to seven
days and the skin may be pink or red. “While the worst of that will subside within one to
two weeks, some may experience some residual erythema (or pinkness of the skin) for
up to three to four weeks. “Some individuals may also experience some mild swelling in
the first one to two days.”
Cellular renewal happens ever 21-28 days. Not everyone will have the same outcome
with minimizing hyperpigmentation or acne scarring, however, there would be a
noticeable difference. We suggest that you wait 3 weeks after your peel to see your skin
results then determine if you will need another chemical peel or not.
You should wait 3 weeks after a medium depth peel like the Straberi or Clarity peels and
2 weeks after Acne 2.0 and Renew peels.
Can I go into the sun after a chemical peel? It’s advised to avoid the sun 2 weeks pre
and post chemical peel treatments as the sun may cause adverse reactions
In the case of superficial chemical peels, a temporary change to your skincare routine
(think: laying off sensitizing products like retinol for a few days) may be suggested
post-peel. Deeper peels will require more care; refer to our Post Peel Instructions to
minimize post-inflammatory discoloration and protect the new, fresh layer of skin. It is
especially important to avoid the sun and use strict sun protection. Regardless of what
kind of peel you choose, here are some key behavioral suggestions for your post-peel
care routine:
1. Don’t Touch: “Avoid touching, picking, rubbing, or peeling the sloughing skin.
2. Keep It Clean: Use a gentle cleanser to keep the skin as clean as possible.
3. Moisturize: You can even apply and reapply throughout the day if skin feels dry or
tight. Straberi Post Care Glow Balm have hydrocortisone included to help
minimize itching and inflammation.
4. Be Gentle: Skip exfoliation (chemical and physical) while your skin heels.
5. Stay Protected: For good measure, — be extra diligent with your SPF
application.
6. No exercise or hot water for 24 hours.
It’s not recommended to have a chemical peel if you have more than 8 active cystic
acne lesions. For those cases, you would need to seek an in-person aesthetic
professional first. In this case, would disqualify for our online professional guided
aesthetic option.
Darkening of the skin is normal during the peeling process. As the layers of dead skin
shed the skin will become lighter and brighter. Do not pull or pick at the skin because
this will cause hyperpigmentation. Aloe your skin to shed on its own
Yes, our chemical peels is formulated for all skin types.
How long after receiving a chemical peel can I go back to using my own products?
You should wait 3 weeks after a medium depth peel like the Straberi or Clarity peels and
2 weeks after Acne 2.0 and Renew peels.
Avoid direct sun exposure of any kind as well as tanning beds and self-tanning to the planned treatment areas for 4 weeks prior to treatment. A tan can produce a burn to the skin and can result in hyperpigmentation (skin darkening) as well as hypopigmentation (skin lightening). We recommend that you discontinue the practice of tanning due to the increased risk of skin cancer and aging.

The Mechanical stimulation of tiny microcrystalline coated needles combined with the
biological effects and thermal stimulation of radio frequency, This treatment selectively

acne scaring, shrink large pores, and rejuvenate collagen production resulting in more
firm, smooth, clear skin
Everyone’s skin is different and, therefore, everyone will experience different timing when it comes to achieving the results they want. However, here is a general timeline of what you can expect after your Straberi Facial
- Immediately following treatment: After the treatment, the skin will likely be red, slightly swollen, and may have pinpoint bleeding. Steps that we will recommend include waiting at least four hours before washing your face and avoiding exposure to sun in the days following treatment.
- Three to five days following treatment: This is when the peeling stage typically begins. This is completely normal and not a cause for concern. It occurs due to increased cell turnover. We recommend that you avoid picking at the skin. Rather, it is best to keep the area moisturized using our Post Care Glow Balm during this time.
- One week following treatment: You should notice improvements in your skin one week after treatment. Initial results usually include improved skin tone, a reduction in acne visibility, and improved skin texture. For some patients, noticing results may take a bit longer, so do not worry if this is the case for you!
- Four to six weeks following treatment: Clinical studies show you will notice the effects in full.
- Any further concerns your provider should available to address any concerns you may have about your results.
Retinol and vitamin C serum should be avoided for at least the first 48 hours after microneedling. Once 2 full days have passed, you might want to gradually add products back into your daily beauty routine instead of doing your usual regimen, especially if you use products that have strong anti-aging formulas.
No need to worry, because anything “off” you notice on your face after microneedling is temporary and will clear up in a few days. Those prone to acne breakouts might also experience a flare-up, especially if you currently have active acne lesions at the treatment site.
A slight outbreak of acne or milia (tiny white bumps) is possible. Light peeling usually occurs in about three days and will be replaced with brand new skin.
Although the number of sessions can vary, our studies show a significant improvement in atrophic acne scaring after just 1 treatment. We suggest three to six sessions for optimal results. Please speak with a professional Straberi Facial provider.
